From September 27 to 30, REIN division of Rosatom State Corporation took part in the European Nuclear Young Generation Forum (ENYGF) in Tarragona, Spain. The event was hosted by the Spanish Young Generation Network in cooperation with the IAEA in the hybrid format that combined both online and on-site elements. Delegates from REIN were Rosatom’s only representatives who presented their papers in Tarragona in person.
The 2021 edition of the Forum, which is traditionally the event of the year for young professionals in the nuclear field, brought together over 250 delegates representing more than 75 companies from 24 countries. 150 delegates attended the event in person and 100 more participated in online format. The key topics of the Forum’s agenda comprised breakthrough solutions in accident-tolerant fuels, advanced SMR designs, the role of nuclear in energy transition, and radioactive waste management.
REIN division was represented on-site by three delegates from the project companies in charge of implementation of the Hanhikivi 1 NPP project in Finland and the Akkuyu NPP project in Turkey. Dmitrii Dzhabarov, Lead Manager of Overall Layout and Site Layout Division at RAOS Project Oy (100% subsidiary of REIN JSC, the plant supplier of Hanhikivi 1 NPP), presented applications of Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions in the Hanhikivi 1 project.
JSC AKKUYU NUCLEAR, the general customer and investor of Akkuyu NPP with REIN JSC being the majority shareholder, delegated two employees to present on-site in Tarragona. Anton Feoktistov, Head of Department of Methodology and Project Management Support, gave a presentation on development and implementation of project management in the Akkuyu NPP Project. Serkan Aslankan, Specialist of the Department of Mobilization Training, Civil Defense and Emergency, Emergency Centers, presented a paper on emergency preparedness and response in Build-Own-Operate projects on the base of Akkuyu NPP. Another participant from JSC AKKUYU NUCLEAR, Samed Tugrul Yilmazer, Chief Mechanician of Turbine Shop, introduced an assessment of the functional reliability of the control and protection system in the VVER-type reactor in the online format.
Altogether Rosatom State Corporation, the general (“uranium”) sponsor of the event, delegated 51 representatives to the Forum. All participants were selected and approved by the Forum’s organizers based on submitted scientific and technical papers. Coordination, information support and Rosatom’s presence at ENYGF21 were provided by the Rosatom Corporate Academy and Rusatom International Network. All potential participants from Rosatom were tested for their level of English by the Academy’s experts.
The European Nuclear Young Generation Forum is a biennial conference organized by the European Young Generation Network. ENYGF aims to provide young professionals with opportunities to exchange experience in the development of advanced scientific technologies related to all areas of production, application and development of nuclear energy.
