Hanhikivi 1 NPP is very important for Rosatom as it is a flagship project in Western Europe for VVER 1200 reactor technology. By the time of construction start, planned for 2018 after Owner Fennovoima gets Construction License, there will be two VVER 1200 power units in operation in Russia and one abroad. Already today first and most modern Generation III+ VVER 1200 unit (Novovoronezh NPP in Southern Russia) is connected to the national grid and working in its' full capacity.
As also a minority shareholder of the project, we are focused on making this project as economically effective as possible and thus to develop it on agreed schedule and on budget. We are constantly reinforcing the team that is working on licensing documentation, on design development and engineering. Since summer of 2016, we are utilizing experience and know-how of Atomstroyexport (ASE Group), an engineering division of Rosatom, as consultants and experts for the development of Hanhikivi 1 project.
