01.10.2016

The main purpose of the visit was to introduce Finnish colleagues to Russian experience in preparation and training of personnel for nuclear power plants. “Hanhikivi-1 nuclear power plant will be built in Finland. Currently it is at the stage of technical design. In 2018 the construction phase starts, – commented Eija Salo, Human Resources Director in Fennovoima, – currently we are communicating with RAOS Project Oy (subsidiary of JSC Rusatom Energy International), general supplier of Hanhikivi-1 NPP.

RAOS Project is responsible to develop a training plan and implement the training of VVER- 1200 technology for the whole personnel of Fennovoima. Therefore it is very important for us to see the structure of Russian colleagues' training program and also the full-scale simulators used for that ”.

Single unit Hanhikivi-1 NPP is being built on Russian technology with VVER-1200 reactor in the Finnish province of Northern Ostrobothnia. Leningrad-2 NPP has become a reference plant for the construction of Hanhikivi-1. According to Juhani Jokinen, Fennovoima Operations & Maintenance Manager, it is the plant where representatives of Finnish companies are planning to continue their acquaintance with the Russian experience of personnel training for nuclear power plants. “Today we are building the foundation for the training program of Hanhikivi NPP personnel. For us it is important to learn from your practice. It is also important to see the common ground and differences between Finland and Russia in this aspect. Visiting Kalinin NPP we have discovered a lot of interesting ideas,” - he said.

In the course of the visit Finnish colleagues attended industrial site of Kalinin nuclear power plant; training division of the NPP; Public Information Center; and had excursion to town gymnasium No.3 and it's Atomic Class established in the new academic year as the major for high school students.
