Greenfield project Hanhikivi 1

Fennovoima and Rusatom Overseas signed in December 2013 a plant supply contract for the Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant to be built in Pyhäjoki. The contract is managed by Rosatom Energy Internationals’ Finnish subsidiary RAOS Project Oy. According to the schedule agreed upon, the nuclear power plant will start generating electricity in 2024.

Future Hanhikivi 1 is a VVER-1200 nuclear power plant developed by Rosatom. The latest generation VVER-1200 is the product of multiphase development work. There are two VVER-440 plant units in use in Loviisa, where they have been operated safely for decades.
